The stage is set and Greece is ready to swing big at the 2025 Women’s European Softball Championship. Twenty-one of the continent’s top teams have descended on Prague for a week of competition, and The Hellas National Softball team arrives with momentum after last year’s sixth-place finish, their best showing in recent history.
The Women’s European Softball Championship is the premier competition for national teams across Europe, held every two years under the governance of the European Softball Federation. The tournament not only crowns the continent’s best but also serves as a qualifier for international events such as the World Cup and Olympic pathway tournaments. Known for it’s competitive depth, the championship continues to grow in prestige, with 21 nations competing in this year’s edition in Prague.
Greece has a proud tradition in the Women’s European Softball Championship, highlighted by its rise in the early 2000s when the sport gained momentum following the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Over the years, the Greek team has consistently battled among Europe’s mid-to-top tier programs, earning respect for its resilience and steady growth. Last summer marked a milestone, as Greece secured sixth place at the 2024 championship, it’s best finish in recent years and a sign that the program is building toward sustained success on the continental stage.
The road won’t be easy, but the team embraces the challenge. Greece opened the tournament with a marquee matchup against perennial powerhouse Netherlands on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 7 a.m. CT. They will square off against Great Britain on Monday, Sept. 8, at 9:30 a.m. CT.
With a proven roster and the confidence of a top-six finish in 2024, Greece enters Prague hungry to prove they belong among Europe’s elite.
